The Champ’s Meetings Youth Group -The Gatherings

"You are not just living for today; you are living for the future. You are building a legacy that will echo long after you," Champ Jadah Robinson says. "Every choice you make, every boundary you set, every book you read, every moment you choose growth over comfort, becomes part of the inheritance you leave in the heart of the next generation of  youth," Champ Jadah Robinson says.

The Champ’s Meetings Youth Group, called “The-Gatherings,” Director Dr. Sheba Brown, Assistant Director Jadah Robinson, Board of Directors Treasurer Ingrid K. Bennett, M.A., and Executive Administrator Nicolle Callaway.

This youth group of 20-plus kids empowers youth through mentorship, community dialogue, and personal development, proven strategies aimed at transforming their lives. These meetings are held weekly with 20 youth aged 13 to 16 years. Here are real-world case studies and examples that show how mentorship programs like The Champs Meetings Youth Group, “The-Gatherings,” can transform the lives of teens aged 13 to 16 years.

Case Studies: Mentorship Impact on Teens (Ages 13 –16 years)

  1. Youth Unity: From Isolation to Leadership

A 15-year-old named Zakkai joined The Champs Meetings Youth Group, known as “The-Gatherings after struggling with school attendance and low self-esteem. Through weekly mentoring sessions, he learned how to express his emotions, set academic goals, and build trust with adults. Within a few months, Zakkai became a peer mentor himself, helping others to navigate similar challenges. His grades and his behavior improved.

  1. THE-GATHERINGS YOUTH PROGRAMS

13 years–16-years - youth engage in our programs that focus on identity, leadership, purpose, and youth mentorship.

A study highlighted by the Institute of Justice found that structured mentorship programs significantly reduce delinquent behavior in at-risk youth. One case involves The Champ’s Meetings Youth Group, called “The-Gatherings,” a 13-year-old named Jabez with multiple school suspensions and being kicked out of school. At one point, he even vaped. As well as staying back twice. Under our leadership, he has advanced in his education and stopped vaping.  After joining our mentorship program, he learned conflict resolution skills and began participating in community events. His school behavior improved, and he later joined our youth advisory board as a peer-youth mentor.

These case studies show that consistent mentorship, safe spaces, and purpose-driven dialogue can help teens:

  • Improve academic performance
  • Develop leadership and communication skills
  • Build emotional resilience
  • Avoid risky behaviors
  • Contribute positively to their communities
